SEPTA/CSX/NS Stony Creek Branch Norristown, North Wales and Lansdale PA May 3 2005 |
Having turned the train, B738 enters the branch at Elm Street and heads back to Lansdale. |
B738 approaching Germantown Pike from the west. The train had just passed the site of the July 2004 derailment (behind the train around the bend). At that time, the area to the right was used as a staging area for NS and Terra equipment and panel tracks brought in for the repairs. |
B738 has just passed Township Line Road amid more of the chainsaw and chipper carnage. |
B738 has just passed under North Wales Road at the eastern crossing. The Lehigh Valley Transit line, aka the Liberty Bell Route, ran from Norristown to Allentown on the right of way just to the right of the branch (the dirt path between the telephone poles). |
The eastern end of the branch meets up with SEPTA's Lansdale-Doylestown Main at CP Dale in Lansdale PA, just south of the station. B738 has just cleared the branch onto Track 1 heading for the Bethlehem Industrial Track, what Track 1 becomes north of Lansdale. The OOS track in the foreground right formerly served the Reading Company Freight House, which still stands. |
