Railfan Pictures of the Day - 07/30/2004
CSX/NS/SEPTA Stony Creek Branch East Norriton PA July 30 2004 |
Terra Environmental Contractors out of West Chester PA is the contractor that is doing the initial cleanup work at yesterday's derailment. By 17:00 today, they had righted and rerailed all the cars using a couple of sidewinders and a bulldozer and were waiting for NS and CSX to send engines to remove them, with two going to Norristown (NS) and two going to Lansdale (CSX). The railbed had been cleared and was being prepared to accept panel track sections as soon as NS could get them there. What was left of the rail and ties destroyed in the derailment was being pushed aside. The yellow piles that look like sand are seed from the two covered hoppers; there are going to be a lot of very well fed birds in Norristown for the next few weeks. |
