The K&I Model R.R. Club is a group of model railroaders who design, build, display and operate an HO Digital Command Control modular railroad layout.
Although the basic specifications are such that all modules can operate together, a member is free to build his or hers to depict any type of railroading he or she so desires, such as city, lumber, coal, switching, grain hauling, intermodal, mountain, industrial, etc.
Our meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30pm. We meet at the K&I train room, at the old Fire House in Buckner, KY where the layout is set up when not being shown at train shows, malls, etc. The club room is also open on Tuesday evenings from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. [Please phone ahead to be sure the room is actually open].
Directions to our train room are as follows. The Fire House can be reached by going out Interstate I-71 to exit 18. Take a Left at end of ramp, go under I-71 and across the CSX railroad tracks to the end where it meets HWY-146. Take a right on 146 and it will be the second building on the left [approx. 400 yards] directly across from the large brick Buckner Baptist Church.
The club is a 100% NMRA club. This means you must have a membership in the NMRA [National Model Railroad Association] to join. The reason for this is we need to be 100% NMRA in order to qualify for insurance on our room and whenever we run at outside shows and other venues.
Our current dues are $180.00 per year. Contact our treasurer, Ed Brennan (address below), and he will advise you what your dues would be at this time of year and where to mail them. Also, fill out the attached application form and send or email it back to Jack Diehl (address below) and he will get you on our web site and bulletin board. You will get a password that will allow you access to our "members only" section and will start receiving e-mails and notices pertinent to the club. As a new member, you will be assigned a mentor for the first six months who will acquaint you with the rules, regulations and operations of the club. At the end of six months, you will be assigned a code which will allow you 24 hour access to the train room.
Meanwhile, if you have an email address, you may go to our web site at
http://www.trainweb.org/knimrr and sign up to receive notices of meetings and events.
We look forward to seeing you at a future meeting.

Each year we try to display our layout as many times as possible. There are three primary reasons:
We pride ourselves in the way that we interact with the general public, and the positive response that we receive from our shows. Our layout display is a great attention getter for any mall, business, or event.
