William Hudswell is mentioned as being the former leading
draughtsman at Kitson, Thompson and Hewitson. They bought part of
the Railway Foundry estate (formerly run by E. B. Wilson &
Co.), and started a general engineering company. The company traded
as Hudswell Clark and Rodgers for ten years from 1870. It was taken
over by the Trind Group in 1968, and the locomotive patterns,
drawings and goodwill was sold to Hunslets in 1972.
