Renato Gaudio and Jerry Pry have each provided a map of Massawa.  Renato's provides quite a bit of details and Jerry's will load much faster. I have used a small version of Renato's (above) as a hot map to get to pages devoted to Massawa locations.  Jerry's map shows the location of Green Island.

The city consists of two islands.   The main part of the city is located on.Massawa Island.  It holds many buildings from the Ottoman era. The Isle of Taulud is where the C.I.A.A.O. Hotel was located.  Renato's map shows it's location.

A booklet titled Massawa Pearl of the Red Sea was published recently.  Mike O'Neill provided me with a copy.  It was published on the 10th Anniversary of the Battle of Massawa.  This was a turning point in the revolution and the definitive stake in the Dergue's heart.  It has some material about the railway.
