There was a palace on Taulud. In Far Wheels, the author states
that it is the only major construction on the island since the colonial
era (in 1959). This wasn't true. The building was built in
the colonial era. I will be adding a picture from that era that shows
the palace. It is in ruins today.

In the foreground, between the trees and the road, there is a dark
line. I believe that this is the railway. It is in the right place.
The Pearl of the Red Sea provides an aerial image of the palace:

A careful examination of the uper right portion of the island shows
a railway yard.
The position of the causeway in the background tells us this is on
the same end of the island as the C.I.A.A.O.
Hotel.

Hans took a couple of good pictures of the train. Unfortunately,
they were unable to run it for fear it may be attact by the Ethiopian Airforce.
He was there during the war.

The above painting is one of a series of a half dozen or so commemorating
the Battle of Massawa that surround the memorial.
Hans also took a closeup of the logo on the side of the passenger car. I used it to reconstruct the current logo.
