RAILTOURS
'These pictures show a number of LT railtours.
1938 tube stock on the Metropolitan and Bakerloo lines on 2 May and 6 June 1976. This trip was so popular it had to be run twice - which meant you could travel on it once and photograph it en route the other time. The route was Baker Street (Met), Watford, Rickmansworth, Amersham, Baker Street (Met), Aldgate East, New Cross Depot, Mansion House, Kensington Olympia, Lille Bridge Depot, Hatton Cross, Mansion House, Liverpool Street, Baker Street (Met).
The route of the COP stock tour on 3 July 1977 was Acton Town, Northfields, Acton Town, Edgware Road, Moorgate, Stanmore, Baker Street, Chesham, Watford, Harrow-on-the-Hill, Uxbridge, Acton Town. The train had to operate between Chalfont and Chesham as a service train, to the surprise of passengers.
The Auto Tube Rambler of 3 June 1979 was, I think, the only special ever worked by 1967 tube stock. The route was Seven Sisters, Walthamstow, Finsbury Park (cross to Piccadilly), Barons Court, Ealing Broadway (cross to Central), White City, Leytonstone, Hainault, Woodford, White City, Ruislip Gardens, Ruislip Siding, Rayners Lane, Baker Street, Aldgate, Hammersmith (reverse), Finsbury Park (cross to Victoria), Northumberland Park Depot, Seven Sisters. In retrospect, quite the most remarkable LT railtour I have been on. Unfortunately, the weather was very different from the day of the COP tour, so I only got one decent photograph, that at Baker Street.'
