Locomotives

A small selection of unique Locomotives that are ideally suited to this railway. Most of these are kitbashed from commercial brands, some are scratch built. All have on board battery, R/C and sound, others will be added progressively.

Loco Control System options

My more frequently used Locos have electo-mechanical DIRECTION control and ELECTRONIC sound Systems (MyLocoSound).
Less frequently used Locos have electo-mechanical DIRECTION control and yet the sound Systems are more basic as discussed here.
These Locos use three (3), 20 second duration, sound cards, each sound selected via Servo actuated CAMS and Micro Switches.
This arrangement is easy to build, troubleshoot and repair.
Generally, three (3) unique sounds are used;
1. Westinghouse Pump sound only ON while Loco is stationary.
2. Chuff or Diesel motor sound while Loco is in Forward or Reverse.
3. Steam Whistle or Diesel Horn [momentarily] at arc limit of actuating Servo arm travel.

The foregoing document discusses how this is designed and built.
