Trains - San Luis & Rio Grande

The San Luis and Rio Grande Railroad (SLRG) operates 150 miles of track in southern Colorado. From their UP interchange at Walsenburg, CO, the line goes west over 9,234 foot La Veta Pass to their headquarters at Alamosa and on to the western terminus at Derrick, CO.  Another branch goes south from Alamosa to Antonito, CO. They also interchange with the San Luis Central at Monte Vista, CO. Principal cargo include minerals, potatoes and malt barley. They've were owned by Permian Basin Railways since 2005.
 In 2019 Permian's parent company, Iowa Pacific Holdings, was forced into bankruptcy.  In November 2022, the Soloviev Group won the auction for SLRG assets.  Soloview renamed it's new acquisition Colorado Pacific Rio Grande.
