After lunch at Pizza Hut, we came back to the Amtrak Station around 1:30pm for some more trainwatching, here's what we saw... |

Amtrak Train #286, the New York City-bound Empire State Express pulls into Amsterdam for its station stop. Today, the train had P32AC-DM #710, its usual power. The train is running about 40 minutes late as it arrives on Track #1.

It was quite hot in Amsterdam, with temps in the high 80's, so we all decided to head over to a popular trainwatching spot with shade trees, Guy Park. Located in the middle of Amsterdam on NY State Rte. 5, it is home of Lock #11 on the Mohawk River, which actually doubles as the Erie Canal in this area of New York. This crossing is the entrance to the park and possesses one thing that probably no other crossing on the Chicago Line has, a mechanical bell on the crossing gates. It's the most disgusting sounding bell I've ever heard, it reminds me of an old Atari Video Game horn or something like that!!! Anyways, the first train that came by while we were at Guy Park, was CSX Train Mail-5 on Track #2 at 2:23pm with SD40-2 #8248 on the lead.

Looking from the other side of the crossing at Guy Park, we see CSX Train TVBN with a rare C30-7 on the lead on Track #2 at 3:07pm. TVBN is CSX's version of TVLA (which went to NS), the New Jersey to Los Angeles hot TV Train that is a joint-venture with the BNSF.

Looking West, we see CSX Train TV-24 with Conrail C40-8W #6176 on the lead on Track #1 at 3:25pm. This unit will soon become CSX #7353, of course, all in due time, it could be weeks or months from now.

We see in this photo, Amtrak Train #281, the Niagara Falls-bound Mohawk passing by Guy Park on Track #2 preparing to make its station stop just west of where I was standing to take this slide at 3:25pm. Today, the train had P32AC-DM #703 for power.

CSX C40-8W #7715 leads Train INSE through Guy Park at 4:05pm on Track #1.

Next up, is CSX Train ML-401 with SD40-2 #8231 at the head-end. The train is passing through Amsterdam at 6:15pm on Track #2.

Amtrak Train #283, the Empire State Express with P32AC-DM #715 is seen passing by Guy Park on Track #2 at 6:49pm. This is another train that comes through Buffalo in darkness, so again, another reason why Amsterdam is so neat to trainwatch at...
