The San Bernardino Railroad Historical Society...

is seeking donations to help with moving expenses for a sheet metal building they've acquired for their museum. "With a donation of $100 or more designated for the continuing museum or dismantling funds, your name will appear on a plaque at the future museum site." Donations may be sent to:

The Pacific Railroad Society...

has everything from "armchair railfanning" to "hands on" opportunities. September 13th, 1996 at 7:30 pm, is their next membership meeting (and slide show) at the Joslyn Center, located at Storey Park, 210 North Chapel Ave, Alhambra, CA. Steam-Up Days Fares:

Adults: $2.50, Children 6-11: $1.00, Children 5 & under free. Train leaves the station every 40 minutes, 10am to 4pm, Labor Day weekend-Aug. 31, Sept. 1 & 2 (Sat., Sun., Mon.); V & T Symposium-Oct. 19 & 20 (Sat. & Sun.); Nevada Day-Oct. 31 (Thurs.); Santa Train-Dec. 7 & 8 (Sat. & Sun); and New Year's Train-Dec. 28 & 29 (Sat. & Sun.).

Motor Car Fares:

Adults $1.00, Children 6-11: 50 cents, Children 5 and under free. Leaves Station every 30 min. May 31 to Sept. 1: Fri., Sat., Sun. (except steam-up days). In Sept.: Sat. & Sun., 12 noon to 4 pm (except steam-up days).

AMTRAK has announced that the Desert Wind, their Chicago-Los Angeles via Salt Lake City and Las Vegas train, will be discontinued as of November. So now's the time to book travel on this route, before it's history.
