All Aboard the
COTTONTAIL LIMITED!

It was a cool but sunny end of winter day on Sunday, March the 16th, 2008, when the Western New York Railway Historical Society had a very successful Cottontail Limited excursion. 207 travelers, took a trip with the Easter Bunny on a regularly scheduled Amtrak© train from Niagara Falls, NY, to the Amtrak© Station in Depew, New York, accompanied by Mr "EB". Family and Friends met at the Depew Station where they boarded 5 Laidlaw© buses for the 40 minute ride to the station in Niagara Falls. |
| Amtrak© Train #288 was on time with GE P32-AC-DM #701 in Phase V paint on the point. As the buses were unloaded, the Easter Bunny and his helpers greeted the enthusiastic passengers as they boarded the train. The train pulled out right on time and they traveled along the shores of the Niagara River winding their way back to Depew for an estimated arrival time scheduled for 3:51pm. | |

Train #288 was just minutes off its marked time when the train left the Niagara Falls Station. With brilliant sunshine outside, the passengers were all smiles inside the cars as Mr Cottontail made his trip through the train handing out goodies to all of the "kids" on board. | |

Katie S. and Rachel K. were back on board for another trip with Mr. Cottontail and helped throughout the train carrying his extra goodies, taking pictures and answering questions when possible. | |

As always, Bob Snyder did a fantastic job as trip coordinator and had help from Society members Greg Jandura and Jim Slominski (bunny crew assistants) and Bob Reynders. Together they kept track of the 207 passengers on both the buses and the train, made sure they were comfortable and helped keep the train clean. Mr Cottontail was very happy about all the help they provided and in making his trip such a pleasant one. With the continued success of these trips, we all hope that he will make a visit again next year! Thanks again to Bob for these great photo's! |
