A new station/welcome center in Chemult was dedicated on November 10, 2010. The project is a joint effort by Oregon DOT and Klamath County, using $600,000 in grants from various sources, and replaces a small, enclosed, unheated shelter. The new station is across the parking lot and Depot Street from the railroad and features interior waiting and restroom space and a visitor information kiosk visible from US 97, which passes behind the new station property. There also is a new ADA-compliant platform. (Source: Amtrak Fact Sheet, Fiscal Year 2010, State of Oregon) |
