The beet train negotiates the twists and turns of the line as it drops down into Caliente from Tunnel 2.
TT2712
The last train in sunlight on June 29th is a special move of Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751. The big Northern is returning to Los Angeles from Railfair in Sacramento. The sounds and smoke fill the valley as the 3751 approaches Caliente.
TT2713
Minutes later the big 4-8-4 is swinging off the Caliente horseshoe curve and is captured in setting sunlight.
TT2714
It's a clear block ahead for 3751 and helper BNSF 4419. Darkness will fall before the train reaches the Loop, and it will be a late arrival at its next stop in Barstow.
