Some background info: During the course of my college studies -- which lasted from 1990 to 1994 at SMU (Southern Methodist University) in Dallas -- I had the opportunity to take numerous photography classes, which included Introductory Photography, Black and White I, Black and White II, Color Processing, Alternative and Alterred Images, and even a semester of self-directed individual work when I chose to focus on... railroads (what else?). 24-hour-a-day access to darkrooms and railfanning for college credit... does it get any better than that?

I probably would have continued my work in the medium of black and white, but -- like most good things -- my college days eventually came to an end. I haven't yet found the time or motivation -- or the space in my palatial, 2,000-square foot suburban north Texas home -- to install a home darkroom, so I've been forced to settle on using a more conventional railfan medium (color slide film) for my photographic efforts. Maybe someday I'll break out the enlarger, reels, tanks, developing trays, and tongs, and get back into it again. An hour or two of inhaling the fumes of a stout Stop Bath will no doubt leave me wondering why I ever quit in the first place!

Thanks for checking out my Black and White Gallery.
