This show is
our big event for December each year. It gives us a chance to get
together for the holiday season to decorate a layout and run trains
for the holiday crowds, in addition, we also get to do a bit of
shopping.
When you pull a great team together to set up a Winter Wonderland and Thomas
and Percy at the North Pole you wish for the very best talent
and fun times together. That is what SJGRS did at the Ocean City
Train Show.
Bare risers began to develop into a snowy layout with a great
bridge, mountain, tunnels and five trains running throughout the
two days.
Bob and Patti Moffit coordinated the event and did a wonderful
job. Patti set up the North Pole and children ran Thomas and Percy
through the small village beaming with lights highlighted with
a singing Christmas tree that fascinated the little ones. 495
certificates and candy canes were given out to the children. We
received many good comments from parents.
Members who worked this event were getting on track by doing
track, electrical, landscaping, crowd control and running trains.
The entire event from setup on Friday, starting at 1 pm, through
Sunday breakdown, at 4 pm, was memorable to all of us. We all
learned at least one thing new while enjoying the work and the
excitement in the eyes of the visitors.
