Text Box: SHUTTLETRAIN’S WANDERINGS

Horseshoe Curve is a bowl like part of the mountain where the Norfolk Southern hugs the side of the mountain near Altoona, PA. Horseshoe was on the radar of the Nazi’s, they tried to blow it up during the war. The park is well kept by the Railroaders Museum. There is a admission charged plus a restoration fee that is collected upon entering. Some railfans don’t like the charge and wish that the area stayed free like the old days. I like the layout, but, I too think that the area should be maintained as a free area. Below are some of the shots that we took on a recent visit.

That’s just a taste of the Curve, you will have to explore it for yourself soon. My wanderings will continue soon.
