The Kewdale Freight Terminal is located to the South of Perth Airport. It was once a part of huge railway yard, with Forrestfield. It used to be owned by Australian National Railway as a huge freight yard for road and rail vehicle.

The Freight Terminal used to serve both narrow and standard gauge trains. But the narrow gauge link has been pulled, and a main road has been built on its former site. So, the Terminal can only be accessed by standard gauge trains only.

Although nowaday, it's still playing the same role, it's now owned by National Rail (Pacific National since 2002). It's also used as loco stabling and maintenance facility.

The 'Indian Pacific' carriages are also kept here when it's off-duty in Perth.

The majority of locos in here are NRs (Goninan-GE Cv40-9i). Although there are some other locos from either the same or different company.

All of the intermodal trains arrived and departed from here.

Like in Forrestfield, my friend from ARHS WA also helped me to get into here. He even showed me a small gap in the fence, which turned out to be a huge passageway, to allow me to build this website!

An 81-class loco. This loco was starting its engine when this photo was taken. But unfortunately, it didn't make any thick smoke!

Despite of its immense size, this loco was used for shunting duty only.

D48 loco is one of a few non-National Rail locos which is stabled in Kewdale. It's owned by South Spur Railway. The loco is powered by "English Electric" engine.

The loco started its life as Goldsworthy Mining loco, used in Pilbara. It used to compete against big American and Canadian built Alcos, before moved to southern Australia, when Goldsworthy was merged with Mt. Newman to form BHP Iron Ore.

This diesel shop is used to refuel and maintain (minor only) diesel locos.

A single NR can be seen inside. There are two actually, as the second one is hidden behind this shed.

The AN on the right is still sporting the old "Australian National" livery, complete with its logo, as the loco used to be owned by the company.
