Railfan Pictures of the Week - 11/29/2020 |
SEPTA Warminster Branch Hatboro Station Hatboro PA September, October and November 2020 |
In last week's episode of INFRASTRUCTURE WEEK, we saw that the Lansdale Substation had its new transformer brought online and the "old" transformer disappeared. Now the mystery of where the "old" transformer went may have been solved. |
Back in September, most of the Hatboro Station parking lot had been fenced off and blacktop removed as part of the transformer replacement project similar to the work going on in Lansdale. |
Early October and the foundation for the new unit is being poured. |
Unlike the Lansdale project where the transformers had been installed within the existing substation footprint, the new transformer at Hatboro will be next to the old one, so either they will build new superstructure to tie into the existing substation, or they may just build a whole new superstructure that connects directly to the catenary. |
It is the middle of November and the new transformer has arrived. |
It would appear they may be installing a new superstructure, which would mean the site of the exisiting transformer will revert to much needed parking. |
A closer look at the "new" transformer at Hatboro shows that it looks an awful lot like the "old" transformer from Lansdale that disappeared days before. Considering it was only installed in Lansdale in 2016, it would make sense that it was reused. |
