Railfan Pictures of the Week - 11/22/2020 |
SEPTA substation Lansdale PA August, September, October and November 2020 |
An update from September 2020 The improvements to the Lansdale substation have progressed over the past few months. In August all the equipment that was tied into the old transfromer has been removed and the area prepared for installation of the new equipment. |
It was easy to distinguish what was staying versus what was going: RUST! |
By September they were adding new wires to the superstructure, compare the old and new insulators. |
By early October, the new transformer had been installed. |
By early November the new transformer had been cut in and the old connections removed. |
On November 11 2020, I saw they had a crane and presumed it was to remove some of the old equipment. |
What I did not know was that among the old equipment to be removed was the "old" transformer, which had been installed just 4 years earlier ... |
along with the remaining Reading Company equipment. And they have completed the repainting of the substation. The superstructure over the tracks is still unpainted, for now. |
