SEPTA substation Lansdale PA March, April and June 2020
SEPTA still has some money from Act 89 to spend on long overdue maintenance, and one of the projects is a complete rehabilitation of the Lansdale substation.

Below, you can see everything they will be doing over the next 2 years (originally scheduled to have started in 2016 and completed in 2018).
While it has been updated over the years, the bones of the substation dates back to the original electrification by the Reading Company.
You can see the 100 year difference in technology from the old transformer on the right and the newer one on the left, installed in 2016 when its predecessor blew.
During this project, much of the lower parking lot will be used as a staging area.
While a lot of the work will be hidden from view, one major change people will notice right away is the painting of the overhead structure.
By early June, all that was left of the old transformer was its base.
