Railfan Pictures of the Week - 2/23/2020 |
Liberty Bell Trail Pennsylvania Northeastern Stony Creek Branch Lansdale PA January 27 2020 |
Work on Montgomery County's Liberty Bell Trail continued in Lansdale with the opening of the connection between downtown Lansdale and the Andale Green housing complex. The last local piece in the puzzle was a grade crossing over the Stony Creek Branch just west of Dale Interlocking. |
The crossing is just west of the Stony Creek signal. |
The signals for SEPTA's Main Line are also visible as the trail continues south to Andale Green and Stony Creek Park. |
The view looking south from the trail. |
The crossing does not feature gates, just warning signals, befitting its limited use approximately 6 times a week, usually between 00:00 and 08:00. |
The bridge across the nearby creek. |
The trail continues north along side the SEPTA Main Line past the old Reading Company Freight House which is being restored by Discover Lansdale. |
The trail continues across Broad Street along Railroad Avenue to the new Lansdale Madison Station complex. |
A passing note of interest for the future: if you take a look at the DVRPC website, the entire length of the Stony Creek Branch is in the "Planned" category for trails of the future. Huh. |
