The Mini Prade Train, based in
Cheyenne Wyoming as part of the
Union
Pacific Steam Program, was
popular at this event. According to Reed Jackson, who accompanied
the Mini Train to Commerce, it was built beginning in 1954 and
completed in 1956. Having been forgotten in storage for some
years, it was revived in recent years and trucked around to be used at
various events. This day became my
first ride on the UP Mini Parade Train. The way the event was set
up made
for a lengthy corridor for the train to run. The
passenger station was on the "track" parallel to the track with UP1989,
and ran past it 150 yards. It was a five car consist, two of
which were rideable. The "ticket agent" was a nice volunteer lady
who happened to be married to a railroad employee.
