Alaska Railroad Hurricane Turn Flagstop Train

Talkeetna to Hurricane Gulch

The train reflects sunlight down at water level.  Ocassionally, a silver salmon was spotted trying to swim upstream.  Below right is a deceased king salmon.

The word was given to reboard and we continued our way back to Talkeetna.

The railroad has signs indicating the beginning and end of "blocks."  These blocks are for the institution of a future collision avoidance system which will be integrated with GPS.  The sign in the lower right photograph says "End Miami block begin Canyon block."  Of course this is also a great place to flag the Hurricane Turn train.

Lower right, The Call of the Wild cabin site, mysteriously burned in 2001.
