Diagnostic Panel2.jpg (63509 bytes)  Load test. No longer resistors grid submerged in water bath needed to perform this test.

EM2000.jpg (66644 bytes)  EMD EM-2000 Microprocessor. EMD offers retrofit kit for older locomotives, too.

EM2000_2.jpg (80378 bytes)

SIBAS16.jpg (58705 bytes)  Siemens SIBAS-16 Microprocessor. With introduction of SD70ACe, EMD terminated contract with Siemens and Mitsubishi became partner. All functions of SIBAS-16 were relegated to EM-2000 microprocessor. This way, EMD ensured that it is not going the ALCO way. ALCO manufactured early locos for GE and procured electrical components from GE, even after GE started manufacturing her own locos.

GTO TCC.jpg (80454 bytes)  The warning "Danger" has a real meaning. GTO Traction Control Cabinet (TCC) is housed inside. New models with IGBT have only one cabinet and require less cooling. That creates free space for additional equipment such as Head End Power (HEP) module, if added in future.

GTO TCC 2.jpg (64376 bytes)  The Traction Control Cabinet (TCC) contains the traction inverter with control computer and is the three-phase AC power supply for the traction motors of one locomotive truck.

TCC.jpg (62012 bytes)

Doppler Radar.jpg (73667 bytes)  Doppler Radar to detect wheel slip and creeping.

Question Mark.jpg (69444 bytes)  Circuitry for Doppler Radar
