Alsthom coaches at Safdarjung yard in 2001. Not a part of NRM.
Many of us are unaware of the daunting tasks
the NRM management faces to keep exhibits to a reasonable standard. Here are
some examples.
The traction motors are
missing so it would not be unreasonable to expect an empty RPC (Resistance Power
Control) compartment. So it is just a shell when NRM received it.
WDM1 # 17000 was received by NRM couple of
years earlier in a dilapidated state. It required a vast amount of efforts to
restore it to showroom condition, if not running condition. Here are pictures
taken in February 2001.
WDM1 awaiting heavy restoration efforts. Except the
damaged outer shell, there is no functioning component in this loco. This is
"Ugly".
Shuttered doors.
Traction motors in WDM1 are gone.
