NS Abrams Yard NS Harrisburg Line King of Prussia PA November 13 2015 |
At about 04:30 on November 13 2015, a yard job at Abrams suffered a low speed derailment just in front of the yard office. Six cars, loaded with DOT placard 1267 Petroleum Crude Oil, appeared to have been involved. |
Hulcher was brought in and by 13:00 the car on the west end was back on the rails and they were working on the next one in line. |
The front end loader was used to pull while the two Sidewinders lifted. |
The next one, as with all middle children, would be a little more difficult. |
In fact, four hours later, they had bypassed the car on its side to concentrate on the others that were merely off the rails, probably in order to have maximum access to the troubled car. The derailment was on the yard lead between Heavy Yard (west) and Seaboard Yard (east), causing problems for the locals and eastbound trains like 14G and 38G that work the yard. Westbound trains like 17G and 39G usually work the unaffected North Abrams end of Heavy Yard. The derailment was cleaned up by the next morning and things were back to normal. |
