Railfan Pictures of the Week - 5/31/2015
SEPTA Norristown Line Norristown PA April 3 and 7 2015 |
With the new configuration at CP Kalb, NS has a new route through SEPTA land. Here NS 69N, hauling empty ballast cars interchanged from AMTRAK at Morrisville, heads west with NS C40-90W 9855 running solo. |
A little less than half the train is on SEPTA's Track 2 (to the right) and a little less than half is still on the NS Connecting Track (to the left in the distance). The remainder are snaking their way between the switch from the Connecting Track to Track 1, several are on Track 1, and a few between the switch from Track 1 to Track 2. |
Most of the cars were HERZOG ballast cars, with a dozen or so AMTRAK hoppers in both gray and orange thrown in for color (yes, on an NS train, gray passes for color). |
Four days later, a train much more familiar with the drill, H82, which passes through almost daily. In this picture, you can see the complete configuration of CP Ford interlocking. |
NS H82 is of course a much smaller train, so much less in the way of "snaking". |
