NS Reading Line Fleetwood PA May 3 2014 |
A road trip up north catches NS 38G heading west through Fleetwood PA. |
After 38G clears, a local comes east to Fleetwood to pick up a string of covered hoppers on the siding. |
While most are familiar with the Fleetwood Metal Body Company (which only operated out of the building from 1909 to 1931 before GM, which acquired the company in 1925, moved the work to Detroit) and the luxury image synonymous with Cadillac, the industries in the building now are not serviced by the railroad. |
Instead, the covered hoppers come from the bulk transfer facility across the street. |
In just a few minutes, the pair of GP38-2's coupled up to all but two of the covered hoppers and headed back to Reading. |
