CP Ford Interlocking SEPTA Norristown Line Norristown PA January 2013 |
New year and the calm before the storm, both literally and figuratively. It is the first week of January 2014 and NS H82 is leaving SEPTA at CP Ford and heading for the Connecting Track, the only move you can currently make in CP Ford Interlocking. SEPTA had scheduled the work to commence the second weekend of January and continue until the first weekend of February. Then they would take a month off for Auto Show and Flower Show crowds before resuming on the ides of March with an anticipated April 1 2014 cut-in. |
The next weekend SEPTA shut it all down to put in the frogs for the switches to come. |
The second weekend shutdown is imminent as SEPTA personnel take one last look at the track before ripping them apart at 2:00 AM Saturday morning. |
And rip they did. The weather was cold but cooperative. |
The morning after they were out reviewing their handi-work at the new north switch, looking forward to the third weekend where they would put in the south switch. But mother nature intervened, dumping a foot of snow on Wednesday and another few inches on Saturday, forcing SEPTA to postpone the work until the weather turned more favorable. |
