Railfan Pictures of the Week - 1/19/2014
Abrams Yard and Port Kennedy NS Harrisburg Line and Norristown NS Morrisville Connecting Track December 23, 30 and 31 2014 |
The weather could have been better, but a heritage unit is a heritage unit, as NS 8105 aka the Interstate pulls local HM61 into Abrams Yard. It originally came in on 64T but only four axles are allowed down to Port Richmond and the empties were not ready yet, so they put it to work while it waited. |
The Interstate unit hung around Abrams for about a week before going back out on a 65T unit tank train December 28 2014. Fortunately, heritage watchers did not have to wait long to see another as two blew through the area on the last two days of the year and both were leading. First up was NS 1066 in New York Central colors rolling through Valley Forge Park on 38G. |
A comment on the radio directed at the engineer said he must have had his picture taken a lot on this run, and judging from the railfan turnout at Abrams, they were right. It would turn the next day on 39G. |
Another heavily photographed train was the next day's 24K with NS 1067 in Reading Company Bee Line livery at the point, here seen coming off SEPTA and heading for Morrisville PA. Due to the holiday, it did not head west until January 2 2014 on 17G. |
