CP Ford Interlocking SEPTA Norristown Line Norristown PA December 31 2013 |
It is the last day of 2013, and a look south on SEPTA's Norristown Line shows the current configuration of CP Ford interlocking. It is fairly simple: a double track main with a switch off Track 1 to the NS Connecting Track. |
After months of prep work, SEPTA personnel go over the final details as they prepare to turn CP Ford into a full interlocking. |
Track panels, rail and related items have been assembled for installation and positioned down at Ford Street ... |
and in the old parking area between the former Reading Company and Pennsylvania Railroad lines. The work will require the railroad to be out of service during several weekend windows in the next couple months, forcing SEPTA to bus passengers between Conshohocken and Norristown and NS to reroute or annul its weekend freight trains in and out of Morrisville. |
As the day of the first work window approached, SEPTA had also positioned ballast and equipment needed for the job. Originally scheduled for January 4 2014, a surprise snow storm the day before got in the way and the work was pushed back one week. |
