SEPTA Doylestown Line Schoolhouse Road New Britain PA October 12 2013 |
The past few weekends the Doylestown Line has been bustituted from Lansdale to Doylestown while the wire train worked between Schoolhouse Road and CP Land. The weekend of October 12-13 the wire train shifted its attention to some work at the Doylestown end, and while that was going on, the track department was doing their thing just north of Schoolhouse. |
Shortly after the last train of Friday evening, a pair of Gradalls took to the rails and promptly removed a section and excavated a gap ... |
large enough to drive a front-end loader through. There is apparently a drainage problem in this area and they were installing pipe to channel the water through rather than at the ballast. |
After each load, they would tamp it down with their new toy: a remote-controlled compactor. |
Joystick and batteries included. |
