Railfan Pictures of the Week - 08/18/2013
SEPTA NHSL Viaduct Bridgeport PA August 5 and 6 2013 |
After removing the timbers, safety rails and walkways, the steel structure underneath was examined for defects, cleaned and painted. |
With the walkways and safety rails gone, a temporary safety system called SkyGrip was erected for the protection of the workers ... |
who were not eager to test the nets. |
With repairs and a new coat of paint, it is hoped that the substructure will last another 40 years. |
SEPTA has a video of the progress on their website (warning: due to the shaky videography, it probably should not be viewed after eating or by anyone who did not make it through the Blair Witch Project without hurling). |
