Railfan Pictures of the Week - 08/26/2012
SEPTA Warminster Line Warminster and Hatboro Stations August 25 2012 |
The borough of Lansdale celebrated its 140th birthday with its Founder's Day event featuring tours of public buildings, model railroad displays, information booths and sidewalk sales. The highlight of the day was a special excursion train from New Hope to Lansdale and back. Here the train with ex-PRR GP30 2198 on the head end, pauses while it waits for clearance into Warminster Station. The "special" part of the excursion was the debut of the new Pennsylvania Northeastern Railroad's paint scheme on ex-CN SD40 5342. |
A broadside of the unfinished unit, a definite homage to a very west-of-the-Mississippi railroad. |
It was hoped that C30-7 7087 would have been ready for the day as well, but alas it was still in the paint booth so C39-8 8211 stepped in to pinch hit. |
After a short stop at Warminster, the train headed south to Glenside where it would turn for the run up the main to Lansdale. Passing Hatboro Station ... |
the railfans gathered seem to be split down the middle relative to the new paint scheme. Half of them hated it, and the other half seemed to REALLY hate it. I happen to be in the minority, as I like it, very colorful and very well done. |
August 25 2012 was also the 10th birthday of the Railfan Pictures of the Week. How time flies! Here is the first one with a PBNE switcher and slug. |
