Railfan Pictures of the Week - 07/29/2012
NS Harrisburg and SEPTA Norristown Lines in and around Norristown PA July 2012 |
The business on NS 14G (the train formerly known as Conrail PIMO) usually comes in three flavors: tank cars full of syrup, auto parts box cars and steel gondolas in all variations. The sheer number of Conrail steel coil cars means that they will probably be among the last Conrail cars to be retired, like this F51class coil flat car CR 623686, new in May 1997. |
G52T class gondolas like CR 631191 feature reporting marks in a bold format that were new in September 1993. |
G52V are also in bold font but with a bit more space between the numbers, like CR 631561, new in November 1995. This cover differs from the others with additional bracing on the ends. |
The cover on gondola G52V CR 631582, also built in November 1995, can be put under the heading "hey, let's see if it will fit?" and it does! |
The G52U class reporting marks are in a different font than its bretheren, and crammed closer together. The A end ( with brake reservoir) of CR 631398, new October 1993 ... |
and the B end of CR 631437, built one month later in November 1993. |
