PNRR Lansdale Yard Lansdale PA July 7 2012 |
The dream of a pair of hulking C39-8's smoking up the sky while hauling a cadre of well-heeled passengers ensconced in a string of private varnish dies a quiet death. After listing the beasties on Railswap earlier this year, two of the Greenbrier engines have found a buyer in the great white north on the Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railway. The PNRR moved the duo from Ivyland to Lansdale in anticipation of CSX taking them, one day, to their new home. |
The former NS 8202 and 8208 look much the same as when they arrived in October 2010. |
Except now they wear the reporting mark MMA just below the numbers on their cabs. |
For a time, the largest collection of ex-Conrail C39-8's in North America is in Lansdale. |
The PNRR pair of 8211 and 8212 can be found working the Bethlehem Branch most weekdays, and parked in Lansdale the rest of the time. |
