Railfan Pictures of the Week - 05/20/2012
SEPTA Doylestown and Main Line Lansdale PA May 18 2012 |
Less than two weeks after the chapter's "Farewell to the Faithful Silverliners" charter, and there are reported to be fewer than a dozen II's and III's left in service. Predominant among the survivors seem to be the ex-Reading Silverliner II's (Class REB-13). Here a pair lead train 521 across Walnut Street on the Doylestown Line, passing the only regular freight customer left on the line, Lansdale Warehouse. |
On the hind end was ex-Pennsylvania Class MP85 266, the current camera car. Reports are that with its retirement, the equipment will be transferred to a Silverliner IV single unit. |
SPAX 9006 leads SPAX 9009 and SPAX 266 down the main, heading to Thorndale. |
The good thing about many of the Lansdale/Doylestown trains is that they usually turn at Malvern/Thorndale and come back in the afternoon, as this set did on Train 551. |
With numbers dwindling, each sighting could be the last. |
