As the end creeps closer for the Budd Silverliner II's and St. Louis Silverliner III's, one would expect strange things to happen, and the consist of Train 575 on April 10 2012 is an example. At first it appears to be an ordinary four car set but .... |
upon further scrutiny, the lead pair, Silverliner II 216 and Silverliner III 227 are in the usual "pan on the south end" arrangement found on the Reading side ... however ... |
the two rear cars, Silverliner II's 266 and 9007, have been turned somewhere as their pans are now on the north end. Just one more oddity to add to the list. |
Perhaps the rear pair were turned during their duty as the camera train the week before. On a side note, with the retirement of 266, SEPTA will find themselves in need of a new camera car, and rumors have it that a Silverliner IV single unit will be outfitted for that duty. Better hurry, the old girl has less than a few months left. |
