PNRR Bethlehem Branch Telford and Souderton PA March 1 2012 |
Pennsylvania Northeastern Railroad has a new favorite engine, and it is not one of the original locomotives that were brought up to Lansdale back in August. Initially, the Bethlehem Branch runs were held down by ex-CP SD40-2 5577 and one of the two former Conrail and NS C39-8's, 8211 and 8212, with the big GE's making the runs to Ivyland and back down the SEPTA Main Line. Then in September 2011 a pair of ex-CN SD40-2W's that had been purchased for use on PNRR back in March of that year finally made the trip from Woodbourne, but promptly sat idle in the yard until they were needed. That time came in January 2012 when 5577 started acting up, and PNRR 5315 got the call. Now 5577 has been shipped off to the Warminster Branch and 5315 has been the engine of choice ever since. Moyer and Sons, the northernmost customer of PNRR and frankly a facility that begs to be modeled, right down to the American flag that flies over the intricate piping. |
