SEPTA Doylestown and Main Lines New Britain and Lansdale PA March 8 and 11 2011 |
SEPTA's pantograph problems continued last week. After Train 216 had all five pans mangled on the Norristown Line the week before, Train 503 out of Doylestown developed a problem at Forest Siding and SEPTA genset 70 was dispatched to the scene, pictured here at Link Belt. |
The problem child this time was Silverliner IV 291. Fortunately the crew on 503 reacted quickly and stopped the train, resulting in minimal damage to the wires. |
The pantograph was not as lucky and the upper arm had to be excised from the car before it could be moved. |
SEPTA 70 was then coupled up and, after the required brake test, ... |
they were heading back, here passing the new siding at Link Belt. |
and the former Reading Freight House in Lansdale. |
Three days later, 291 was back in business, here sitting next to CSX B738's leader GP40-2 4408 at Lansdale Station. |
