SEPTA Doylestown Branch Link Belt Siding New Britain PA November 20 and 21 2010 |
For the last several weekends while crews worked on the tracks, passengers between Colmar and Doylestown were shuttle bussed using some of the newest vehicles in the fleet, the New Flyer DE40LFR. |
By Sunday the track had been ballasted and was almost ready to be put back in service. |
Down at County Line Road, a crew was applying the finishing touches, thermite welds joining the new rails to the old ones. |
The old pots have been replaced with lightweight disposable ones. |
After removing most of the flash around the weld, they grind it smooth and it is ready to go. |
With the earlier delays behind them, the crews picked up the pace and made good time on the County Line Road grade crossing, opening it up to traffic Sunday night and making a lot of people relatively happy for the Monday morning rush. |
