SEPTA Main Line North Wales Station October 7 2010 |
Four years after SEPTA declared its intentions to demolish the historic North Wales train station and replace it with a modular trailer, a rededication was held to celebrate the restoration of the 137 year old station. In a fortuitous turn (timing is everything), federal stimulus money showed up at the exact time it was needed and the station was saved. |
A number of local political dignitaries joined SEPTA officials and interested citizens for the ceremony which started 40 minutes late (that won't show up on Trainview). |
While everyone took credit, most deserving was the work done by the North Wales Historical Society, lobbying SEPTA, local and state officials to first save the station, second restore the station and third not paint the station after the beauty of the original brickwork was revealed. |
The refurbished interior features a ticket office and waiting room (with a bathroom!) ... |
and commercial space available for lease |
