New Link Siding SEPTA Doylestown Line New Britain PA July 9 2010 |
In addition to the many stimulus related projects SEPTA has undertaken, they have another list of capital improvement projects that were already on the schedule. One of those is the new Link Siding on the Doylestown Line. In preparation for the Bristol Road Extension, SEPTA will be removing the passing siding at Forest (and presumably the current stub-ended Link Siding at Link Belt Station) and replacing it with the new Link Siding between Schoolhouse and County Line Roads. |
The site of the north end of the new passing siding was the location of an industry siding removed several years ago. |
The existing single track catenary will be removed and new overhead installed. |
The new right of way will require excavation for almost the entire length of the siding, as the land just to the south of the tracks is elevated several feet above the railhead until .... |
it reaches a small stream that feeds the Neshaminy Creek, requiring a new bridge extension on the south end of the siding. |
