CSX/NS/SEPTA Stony Creek Branch, NS Harrisburg and Morrisville Lines December 28 2009 |
CSX B738 with light engine CSX SD40-2 8869 winds its way through the grounds of Norristown State Hospital, passing the former site of the switch for the siding that allowed the Reading Company to deliver cars to the facility. Just to the left, the rails can still be found a few feet from the Stony Creek Branch, continuing through the cut to the hospital. |
After pausing at SEPTA's Elm Street Station, 8869 gets the railroad and is about to knock down the signal at CP Elm that connects the Stony Creek Branch to SEPTA's Norristown Branch. |
After turning at Abrams Yard, 8869 heads east at MP 17 on the NS Harrisburg Line, passing the connection to ESPN's Chester Valley Branch in Bridgeport. |
About to pass the signal at West Conshohocken on Track 2. |
Just across the river, NS H3A occupies the connecting track between the NS Morrisville Line and SEPTA's Norristown Branch. After pulling a tank car out of a customer just to the east, NS GP38-2 5171 rolls down light to the switch for Conshohocken Rail ... |
and heads toward the facility, along side a bike path that was the former Pennsylvania Railroad Schuylkill Branch ... |
and up the hill to pull some cars out. Nice climb. |
