SEPTA Main Line Wayne Junction Philadelphia PA October 1 2009 |
Rotem will be assembling the new SEPTA Silverliner V's (among other cars) at their new plant in South Philadelphia, and asked SEPTA to lend them a car to test the cranes and other equipment there. SEPTA obliged with Silverliner III 237, which was readied at Wayne Junction Electric Shop, pictured there as it waits with SW1200 52 for the arrival of its escort into town. |
That escort came in the form of CSX B738 out of Lansdale, bringing the two former Conrail SD40-2's they had on hand, CSX 8869 and 8867, down to the Blue Line for the transfer. |
Right behind B738 was 52 and 237. Originally the exchange was planned for the Blue Line, then there was a radio discussion about doing it right in the station, but it was decided to go back to the original plan. |
SEPTA 52 shoves 237 past Wayne Tower and down the Blue Line. |
