SEPTA Main Line Jenkintown Station Jenkintown PA June 30 2009 |
SEPTA is working on the railroad every weekday on the Reading side of the system. A tie and resurfacing gang has been working their way down the Neshaminy Line towards Jenkintown for the past few months, and the wire train is replacing wire between Carmel and Gwynedd on the Main Line. A tie train with SW1200 SPAX 52 and RL1A SPAX 60 pulls six loaded SEPTA flat cars through South Jenkin. |
On the tail end is caboose SPAX 2000, which at the end of the day will come in handy for the long shove back from Jenkintown to Liberty Yard. |
Not too far behind was the wire train with camp car SPAX 601 leading north. |
RL1A SPAX 61 is the usual power for the train. The proposed high level platforms and parking garage on the south side of Greenwood Avenue, to be erected on the spot where the photo was taken, should provide some interesting views in the future. |
