Railfan Pictures of the Week - 07/05/2009
SEPTA Neshaminy Line Philmont Station Huntington Valley PA June 30 2009 |
Heard on the scanner, SEPTA Extra 52 turned out to be a rail train with 8 pieces of rail loaded onto four flat cars. The rail was dropped north of Tomlinson Road grade crossing, which will be replaced this weekend, and here south of Pine Road for that grade crossing. |
As with many things, there are different ways of dropping the rail. One method was to pull it off the standing flat cars with a Swingmaster. This method displays the plasticity of the rail. |
The other method was to move the train ... |
and have the stationary Swingmaster hold onto the rail. Either way works. |
