Railfan Pictures of the Week - 06/07/2009
CSX Trenton Line Red Lion Road Philadelphia PA June 3 2009 |
Harsco Track Technologies ran one of their railgrinders on the CSX Trenton Line last week. RMSX 1001, aka RMS 10, heads east approaching CP Berry. Loram railgrinders had run in previous years (shots from 2004), but Harsco (first sighted in 2007) has evidently gotten the job now. |
Waiting for the railgrinder to clear were local C770 (which would head into Nabisco), through freight Q439 followed shortly by light engine CSX GP15 1505. |
It appears that fire retardant foam is now being dispensed on the wooden ties, which have been known to smolder and even catch fire as a result of being showered by the sparks generated by the grinding process. |
Even with the foam, however, they still run high rail vehicles behind to catch any hot spots that flare up on the tracks or along the right of way. |
