SEPTA Glenside Station Glenside PA October 22 2008 |
|
With the SEPTA schedule changes that went into effect yesterday, the R2 Warminster Line lost its Bombardier push pull set, which, after a previous change, had been running only the past two months. As a bit of a going away present, AEM-7 2307 on Train 6215 decided to stop working at Hatboro Station last Wednesday. The problem seemed to be air related, and after about a half hour of trying to coax the beast back to life, they were able to get it to limp down to Glenside. There the passengers would disembark to board other trains into the city, and 6215 shoved back onto the siding to wait out the morning rush. |
To add to the drama of the morning, the winds kicked up and blew a section of roofing material off of the platform end of Glenside Station, raining debris on the parking lot. |
To complicate matters even further, a piece of twisted aluminum flashing was blown into the signal wires, causing intermittent arcing. The signals dropped completely shortly after. |
SEPTA dispatchers had to talk trains past the dark signals for a time. Luckily the wind blew the aluminum out of the wires and to the ground, and the system was reset. |
Finally Extra 2307 got the signal off the siding and started its journey to Frazer Shop to get some attention. AEM-7 2304 would make the last runs to and from Warminster. |
